Hope Force Monthly Newsletter

Dear {{Preferred Name}},

Over the past month and a half, Hope Force Reservists have been on the ground in:

  1. Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana — flood response
  2. Venezuela — earthquake response
  3. War, West Virginia — meeting chronic need
  4. Buckhannon, West Virginia — flood response
  5. Haiti — meeting chronic need
  6. Ukraine — meeting critical needs from war impact

From the Gulf Coast to South America, from earthquake rubble to flooded basements, your prayers, gifts, and willingness to go have carried Hope Force into some of the most difficult places.

We can't do this without you, and we mean that! Here's a glimpse into the impact we've made together in August.

Your gifts have made each of these deployments possible, and we're so grateful for every dollar given! Keep fueling hope today by giving below.

Linda's Basement - Buckhannon, West Virginia

When floodwaters filled Linda's basement in Buckhannon, West Virginia, she and her family did what most people do: moved the furniture, got the water out, and assumed the hard part was over.

The basement looked dry. It seemed fine, but it wasn't.

She didn't know that what sat behind her walls could wreak havoc on her home if help didn't show up.

A Hope Force Reservist team was working their way down her street when they stopped and knocked on her door. They offered to take a look, and they found that her basement walls and floor were still hiding moisture.

Left alone, that moisture and mold would have spread through her home silently, threatening her health and causing major long-term damage.

So, the team got to work, mucking everything out, cutting drywall and removing flooring. They dried the space and made sure Linda's home was truly safe, not just surface-clean.

"Hope Force has come in, they showed me where I have mold, where it's wet. I had no idea... I just want to express my gratitude to Hope Force for everything they're doing." -Linda

Here's Linda to tell her story:

We're so glad we met Linda and could help her and her neighbors. Thank you to all who deployed with us, gave, and prayed for our time in Buckhannon!

Preparing for Hurricane Season 🌪🌧

We're currently in hurricane season until November 30, and we're doing everything we can to prepare to respond the moment a storm makes landfall.

If you're a trained Hope Force Reservist, one of the most valuable things you can do right now is let us know when you're available.

When a hurricane hits, we have to move fast, so knowing when we can count on you makes all the difference.

Can you hold a week (or more) in reserve for a potential deployment this hurricane season?

Not a Reservist yet? There's still time to get trained before the peak of the season. Visit hopeforce.org/get-trained.

A Movement to Bring Hope in Latin America

Speaking of Reservist training, this is an incredible story of hope rising from the rubble.

When the earthquakes struck Venezuela, Hope Force responded. But something unexpected happened alongside the relief work: local church leaders and mission groups across South and Central America started reaching out, asking to be trained as Hope Force disaster responders.

We are now celebrating 65 new Hope Force Reservists, trained and ready, across nine different groups from Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico!

Zalathiel Rodriguez, Hope Force Mexico Director, led the training in Spanish, making this a major expansion of our Reservist program in Latin America. Participants joined in person and over Zoom, and the momentum is still building. Trainees from Colombia are already enrolled in the next round!

This is what disaster response looks like when it takes root locally. These 65 people will be among the first to respond when the next earthquake, flood, or storm hits their region.

Think of all the hope they will bring! 💙

Haiti: Keeping Kids in School and In Our Prayers

It's back-to-school season for families in the U.S., but this season looks very different for families in Haiti.

As the start of school approaches, parents in Gressier, where we serve, are quietly doing the math, wondering how they'll cover school fees, uniforms, books, etc. while still trying to feed their children.

For many families, it's an almost impossible hurdle. But for the children Hope Force sponsors, that hurdle gets cleared.

Our child sponsorship program covers school fees, books, and supplies, giving kids a seat in the classroom and a shot at a future. At just $34 a month, a sponsorship doesn't just help a child: it helps pay teachers' salaries, supports the local economy, and quietly lifts an entire community.

You can make this life-changing difference for a child and for their whole family. Will you consider sponsoring a child in Haiti today?

We also need your prayers for safety in Haiti. After more than two years of relative calm in our area of Gressier, the situation has shifted. Gang activity has recently intensified, including an attack on a nearby police station, and there are real concerns about access to the communities where our team lives and works.

Please pray for the safety of our Hope Force family on the ground, for the families we serve, and for peace to hold. We will keep you updated as the situation develops. 🙏
