Hope Force Monthly Newsletter

Dear {{Preferred Name}},

June usually marks the start of summer fun - backyard BBQs, pool days, vacations. But at Hope Force, June marks the start of hurricane season.

Two years ago, Hurricane Helene violently tore through Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and the Carolinas. The destruction was overwhelming and crippled entire communities, some of which no longer exist after floods washed them out.

In Clyde, North Carolina, a woman named Stella faced overwhelming damage to her home, not knowing where to turn. But then, hope showed up in Hope Force blue shirts.

"Hope Force showed up at our home right after Helene and worked harder and faster than I have ever seen. I am amazed by the people who are members of these teams. Love and blessings to Hope Force." —Stella, North Carolina, Hurricane Helene Survivor

Hurricane Helene response

People such as Stella are why we aim to be prepared to deploy year-round so that when a storm hits, we are ready to bring hope as soon as possible.

June also marks Hope Force International's 23rd birthday! 🥳 We are beyond grateful for how God has directed this organization since 2003, and for the survivors around the world who we've had the privilege of serving.

YOU are part of this story, too, whether you're a Reservist, donor, or simply following along with our journey. Thank you for being here. 💙

Hurricane Season: June 1 – November 30

Hurricane season is here. Now is the time to get trained with Hope Force.

As we anticipate hurricanes in the coming months, we're always looking for compassionate, action-minded people to get trained as Hope Force Reservists.

Your first step is to take Hope Force 101: Building a Heart to Serve. This is a free introductory course covering the fundamentals of disaster relief and Emotional Spiritual Care (ESC). If you feel called to make a difference, you can start learning how right now. It only takes one hour!

Reservist Spotlight: Randy Boyer

Randy%20Boyer.png

Randy owns a pet resort business in Ohio, but when disaster strikes, he trades caring for dogs to care for disaster survivors instead. He's deployed with Hope Force seven times and served with other disaster relief organizations, too.

For Randy, deploying is not just about the physical work. He says, "Disaster response has confirmed my desire to demonstrate God's loving heart to those in need without judgment."

Here is his is #1 tip to someone deploying with Hope Force for the first time:

"Prepare mentally so that you are present with whom you're working with, as well as the victims of the disaster. You do not want to be thinking about your to-do list at home. Disaster response is both hazardous and emotional."

Our Reservists make Hope Force the trusted, effective disaster relief organization that it is. We are so grateful for you, Randy!

Praises & Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests:

Guerrero.png
  • Violence in Guerrero, Mexico: Families in Guerrero are fleeing intensifying criminal violence that has burned homes, emptied villages, and forced parents to carry their children through the mountains on foot to safety. This region is already devastated by years of hurricanes and flooding. Our amazing Hope Force Mexico team is actively partnering with local church leaders to support displaced survivors. Please pray for peace, protection, and for those on the front lines, and consider giving to support these families.

  • Tornado in Streator, IL: Last week, a large tornado moved through Streator, IL, southwest of Chicago, flattening some homes to their foundations and leaving many families displaced. The local response in Streator is strong and sufficient at this time. Hope Force is standing with the town in prayer as they recover in the upcoming months. We invite you to pray with us!

Praises:

  • Hope in Haiti: Our Hope Force Haiti
    Rene Lako in Haiti
Director, Rene Lako, just returned from a two-month trip to Haiti, bringing hope to families living in extreme chronic need. Through our Child Sponsorship Program, 210 children and families received extra food, school fees were paid, a new latrine was built for a grateful family, and 325 students and teachers shared a hot meal together on Haitian Flag Day. 🇭🇹 We are SO grateful to God for what He made possible on this trip, through every child sponsor, prayer partner, and member of our local Haitian team who help carry out our programs. ♥️ 20 more children in Haiti are on the waiting list for a sponsor, and you can be the one to step up for them - learn more here.
